White Swan :

I read that, but I can’t understand, as I thought Cairo wasn’t a coastal city.

While at this, where do Mediterranean cruises usually start, and where do they usually finish? (If it matters, in regard to 2 week cruises).

Most of the cruise lines start their Med cruises from either Venice or Palma and return there.
I have cruised all round the Med and have not heard of the opportunity to do a stop over in Cairo from a cruise ship.
The nearest ports to Cairo are Alexandria and Port Said, which is at the head of the Suez Canal. Port Said is 2-1/2 hours from Cairo (210Km) and Alexandria is 225Km from Cairo.
